I was a participating author this past February for the book club. My experience was a very positive one. I sent my book Foolish Games to Danielle Perez for a review at her website Book Whore, but her father read it first and loved it so much that he encouraged Perez to read it.
Due to his enthusiasm, Danielle Perez decided to take a chance on my book and contacted me about a new book club she was starting. Once we were both on board for the project, Perez asked me if I would like to donate a book or two, but that it was not a requirement. Thrilled to be a part of the experience, I donated four books. Perez also donated three free eBooks out of her own pocket.
Perez might not have officially invited me to participate, but that didn’t stop me from visiting the website and reading the comments. I remembered feeling nervous at the beginning because I didn’t want my book to be criticized. What transpired for the next couple of weeks was one of the best experiences I have had so far in my writing career. Perez would post three to four questions for the club members to discuss. I got to read everyone’s reaction to my book and then post my own answers and explanations on my own website.
The friendships I made with those other book bloggers and readers were something I have taken with me that has enriched my life.
